YLKI dan BBPOM Siap Edukasi Bebas Formalin Hingga ke Sekolah

PALEMBANG – Yayasan Lembaga Konsumen Indoensia (YLKI) Sumatera Selatan dan Balai Besar Pengawas Obat dan Makanan (BBPOM) Palembang sepakat untuk bersama-sama melindungi konsumen dari ancaman produk pangan berbahaya yang mengandung formalin.

Ketua YLKI Sumatera Selatan, RM Taufik Husni, mengungkapkan, YLKI bersama BBPOM tengah menyusun rencana untuk memberikan sosialisasi sekaligus edukasi kepada masyarakat tentang bahaya makanan berformalin.

Taufik mengatakan, sosialisasi ditujukan untuk semua kalangan dan lapisan masyarakat. Hanya saja, untuk sementara ini pihaknya bersama BBPOM akan fokus menyasar sekolah-sekolah yang dianggap rentan peredaran makanan mengandung formalin.

“Mungkin kami akan mulai dari tingkat Sekolah Dasar (SD) karena anak-anak ini setelah dimulai nanti sekolah tatap muka saat istirahat mereka akan jajan di kantin atau diluar pagar sekolah. Makanya, edukasi ini kami anggap penting untuk diberikan sejak usia dini,” ujar Taufik usai mengikuti kegiatan Focus Group Discussion (FGD) “Food Safety, From Farm to Table” di Aula BBPOM Palembang, Kamis (24/6/2021).

Menurut Taufik, lebih jauh sosialisasi juga akan ditujukan kepada para pelaku usaha untuk membangun kesadaran akan menyediakan makanan dan minuman yang sehat dan aman dikonsumsi oleh masyarakat. Mereka pun diharapkan lebih memahami aturan yang telah ditetapkan seperti yang diatur dalam UU 8 tahun 1999 Tentang Perlindungan Konsumen.

“Tidak ada toleransi untuk pangan yang mengandung bahan kimia berbahaya seperti formalin dan boraks. Artinya betul-betul zero formalin dan boraks,” beber Taufik.

Diakui Taufik, upaya untuk menciptakan Palembang Bebas Formalin seperti yang dicetuskan oleh BBPOM membutuhkan kerjasama lintas sektor, termasuk Dinas Perdagangan yang memiliki kewenangan dan tanggungjawab untuk mengawasi perdagangan bahan kimia.

“Jadi jalur distribusi bahan kimia berbahaya ini harus diawasi dari hulu hingga hilir sehingga tidak dengan mudah disalahgunakan oleh oknum yang tidak bertanggungjawab,” tandasnya.

Sementara BBPOM Palembang menyatakan siap untuk bersinergi dengan YLKI. Kepala BBPOM Palembang, Martin Suhendri, menilai, tidak hanya memberi pemahaman akan bahaya formalin edukasi yang dilakukan juga dapat melindungi konsumen untuk memilih produk pangan yang aman untuk dikonsumsi.

“Kalau konsumen cerdas mereka bisa memilih mana tahu, ikan atau ayam yang mengandung formalin. Jadi mereka bisa melindungi diri mereka sendiri,” pungkasnya.
