PALEMBANG – Dinkes Sumsel menyebut jika virus corona (COVID-19) varian B.1.617.1 atau Kappa terdeteksi sudah menjangkit pasien asal ‘Bumi Sriwijaya’. Hal ini berdasarkan hasil sampel yang dikirim ke Litbangkes Kemenkes RI.
Kepala Dinkes Sumsel, Lesty Nuraini, mengatakan informasi keberadaan varian Kappa tersebut diketahui setelah adanya hasil dari sampel random yang dikirimkan ke Litbangkes RI.
“Kita memang rutin mengirimkan sampel spesimen secara acak ke pusat. Ternyata ada yang terdeteksi sebagai varian Kappa,” katanya, Senin (5/7/2021).
Hasil dari Kemenkes itu pun kini tengah ditindaklanjuti dengan melakukan pemeriksaan lanjutan terhadap pasien maupun keluarga yang bersangkutan.
Menurutnya, corona varian Kappa ini hampir sama dengan varian Delta dengan karakteristik penularan yang cepat. Terlebih jika yang sempat terjangkit ternyata memiliki mobilitas tinggi setiap harinya.
“Namanya virus, jika sudah ada di Indonesia tentu akan cepat menyebar di daerah-daerah. Inilah fungsinya kita mengurangi mobilitas,” katanya.
Pakar Mikrobiologi Sumsel, Prof Yuwono, mengatakan corona varian Kappa termasuk variant of interest yang memiliki pengertian terbukti dengan dampak hanya di level laboratorium.
“Varian Kappa ini sebenarnya tidak lebih menular dari varian Delta,” katanya.
Yuwono bilang, justru varian Delta yang termasuk variant of concern karena mempunyai bukti meningkatkan penularan di berbagai negara.
“Saya malah lebih khawatir sewaktu varian Delta muncul di Sumsel. Varian itu lebih bahaya karena lebih cepat menular,” katanya.
