BANYUASIN – Perhatian Gubernur Sumatera Selatan (Sumsel) H.Herman Deru pada seluruh insan pers di Sumsel memang tak perlu diragukan lagi. Agar awak media terhindar dari kasus hukum, HD dengan tegas meminta Ketua Persatuan Wartawan Indonesia (PWI) pusat dan daerah menguatkan perlindungan hukum bagi awak media saat menjalankan tugasnya.
Pernyataan itu disampaikan HD saat menghadiri puncak peringatan Hari Pers Nasional (HPN) XLVII dan HUT PWI Tingkat Provinsi Sumsel yang digelar di Kabupaten Banyuasin Tahun 2021, di Gedung Pemkab Banyuasin, Kamis (24/6/2021).
Menurut HD penguatan perlindungan hukum bagi para jurnalis ini penting agar mereka tenang dalam menjalankan profesinya. Sehingga dalam menjalankan tugasnya memproduksi dan menyampaikan informasi, awak media dapat terhindar dari pelanggaran UU ITE dan pelanggaran kebebasan berpendapat.
” PWI harus meningkatkan kerja divisi hukum untuk membela teman-teman dalam tugasnya. Bukan hanya menguatkan perlindungan hukum tapi perlu juga dibimbing agar rekan media tidak melanggar hukum. Saya pikir Ini yang paling penting dan perlu diperkuat,” tegasnya.
Dikatakan HD saat ini profesi wartawan memiliki tantangan yang lebih besar. Sebab di era medsos yang berkembang pesat, semua orang bisa menjadi wartawan. Sehingga jika masyarakat juga cukup sulit membedakan mana produk wartawan dan bukan.
“Disinilah tantangannya. Kalau wartawan tidak punya produktifitas yang jelas dengan keistimewaan jenis produk pasti akan tertinggal. Karena itu agar wartawan tetap survive harus ada ciri khas dan konsisten. Jika sudah konsisten tentu kita akan dikenal,” jelasnya.
Untuk meningkatkan kemampuan dan wawasan rekan media, HD menghimbau agar PWI Sumsel meningkatkan uji kompetensi wartawan sebagai syarat dan tolak ukur dalam menjalankan profesinya.
Dengan demikian diharapkan ke depan awak media semakin berintegritas membangun bangsa. Selain itu Ia juga meminta Pers sebagai salah satu pilar demokrasi tetap independen serta memberikan sumbangsih lebih nyata untuk pembangunan negara khususnya Sumsel dengan perbuatan yang nyata.
Dalam kesempatan itu HD juga sempat bernostalgia. Menurutnya sekitar 8-9 tahun lalu saat menjabat Bupati OKUT Ia Ia pernah menjadi tuan rumah HPN. Kesempatan itupun tak di sia-siakannya untuk mempromosikan daerah secara lebih murah bahkan gratis.
“Banyuasin harus bisa memanfaatkan ini. Sebab kalau HPN semua media kumpul dan beritanya muncul terus. Saya dulu begitu, tentu senang sekali karena kita bisa promosi gratis sebab beritanya dimuat oleh semua rekan-rekan media,” ujar HD bernostalgia.
Di ujung sambutannya HD kembali mengingatkan, selain meningkatkan kompetensi, melakukan introspeksi, moment ini diharapkannya jadi tonggak agar rekan media menjunjung tinggi marwah profesi wartawan yang selalu menjunjung kode etik.
Bupati Banyuasin H. Askolani Jasi mengatakan sangat berterimakasih kepada semua pihak yang sudah mempercayai Banyuasin menjadi tuan rumah HPN dan HUT PWI Tingkat Provinsi. Sebagai kabupaten penyangga ibukota Palembang, Kabupaten Banyuasin terus berupaya melakukan perbaikan, perubahan dan pembangunan untuk memaksimalkan pelayanan kepada masyarakat Banyuasin.
Melalui moment tuan rumah ini kata Askolani Ia berharap Banyuasin yang belum begitu dikenal dapat mulai muncul dan lebih terkenal di kancah nasional.
“Di moment ini kami ingin tunjukkan bahwa kami sangat butuh dengan media di Sumsel. Karena apapun pembangunan yang kami lakukan tanpa diekspose teman media tidak akan terinformasi dengan baik. Untuk itu kami Pemkab Banyuasin siap bersinergi dengan seluruh rekan media,” jelasnya.
Ketua PWI Sumsel H Firdaus Komar mengatakan, kegiatan HPN ke 75 dan HUT PWI ini digelar selama tiga hari diisi berbagai kegiatan di antaranya seminar nasional dengan narsum terkemuka.
Bukan itu saja peringatan HPN kali ini juga menjadi sejarah sendiri bagi pihaknya karena secara berbarengan digelar juga pekan olahraga wartawan daerah (Porwada).
Penyelenggaraan di tengah Covid-19 diharapkan dapat meningkatkan imun rekan media dan masyarakat sekaligus menekan penyebaran Covid 19 di Banyuasin.
Setelah sukses digelar di Banyuasin, tahun depan Firdaus Komar menginformasikan bahwa event HPN akan digelar di Kota Prabumulih.
” Saat ini PWI Sumsel fokus dengan program memperkuat desa literasi berbasis jurnalisme. Ini bertujuan menekan praktek jurnalisme yang tidak profesional dan menekan hoax sekaligus mengangkat potensi-potensi desa agar lebih berdaya,” jelasnya.
Mengusung tema memperkuat peran dan sinergi pers menuju Banyuasin bangkit dan Sumsel Maju, HPN itu diisi juga dengan seminar nasional dengan narsum-narsum terkemuka, serta penyerahan penghargaan kepada tokoh pers inspiratif.
