PALEMBANG – Pemerintah kota Palembang diminta tidak lengah dalam mencegah penyebaran virus varian Kappa atau B1.617.1 yang ditemukan di negara India.
“Pemkot Palembang harus mengambil langkah cepat dalam mencegah virus varian baru ini. Seperti Pulau Jawa yang dianggap lamban melakukan pencegahan sehingga sampai kewalahan menghadapi Pandemi Covid-19,” kata Ketua Ikatan Dokter Indonesia (IDI) Palembang, dr Zulkhair Ali, Selasa (6/7/2021).
Dirinya menyarankan, untuk menekan penyebaran Covid-19, Pemkot Palembang dapat mengadopsi aturan Peraturan Pemberlakuan Pembatasan Kegiatan Masyarakat (PPKM) Darurat sejak dini, seperti pembatasan mobilisasi.
“Palembang harus berkaca dari kasus di Pulau Jawa, jangan sampai kasus Covid-19 dengan cepat melonjak. Beberapa aturan PPKM Darurat bisa kita adopsi untuk pencegahan Covid-19,” ujarnya.
Ia menilai, meningkatnya kasus Covid-19 disebabkan mobilitas masyarakat yang tinggi pasca lebaran. Masyarakat masih banyak yang melakukan liburan hingga kondangan tanpa adanya pembatasan lagi.
Menurutnya, di tengah kondisi pandemi yang semakin mengganas akibat varian baru, IDI Palembang terus gencar melakukan proses vaksinasi untuk membentuk kekebalan komunal.
Semakin banyak masyarakat yang melaksanakan vaksinasi, dapat menekan kasus pandemi Covid-19 yang terjadi di Sumsel. Jika masyarakat tetap terpapar, mereka tidak akan mengalami penyakit yang berat.
“Semakin banyak masyarakat yang divaksinasi semakin bagus, maka akan tercipta kekebalan komunal untuk menekan angka kasus Covid-19,” jelasnya.
Ia menambahkan, pemberlakuan ganjil dan genap di Palembang dianggap IDI tidak memiliki dampak signifikan untuk penekanan kasus pandemik Covid-19.
Sebab, selama ini keramaian juga sering disebabkan oleh anak-anak muda yang nongkrong hingga larut malam, mereka pada umumnya beraktivitas menggunakan motor.
“Masyarakat umumnya menggunakan motor, sedangkan aturan ganjil genap hanya untuk mengatur mobil saja,” terangnya.
