Hingga saat ini Presiden Rusia Vladimir Putin telah memerintahkan pasukannya untuk menyiagakan kekuatan nuklir negara itu. Pasalnya, beberapa negara Barat anggota NATO telah menjatuhkan berderet sanksi ke negara pimpinannya itu terkait serangan ke Ukraina.

Putin menganggap ini merupakan sebuah aksi yang ‘tidak bersahabat’ terhadap negaranya. Meski begitu, Menteri Luar Negeri (Menlu) Rusia Sergey Lavrov mengatakan potensi perang nuklir antara Rusia dengan NATO kecil kemungkinannya terjadi.

“Saya tidak ingin mempercayainya, dan saya tidak mempercayainya,” tegasnya di sela-sela pertemuannya dengan Menlu Ukraina di Turki, dikutip Reuters.

Sementara itu, NATO sendiri akan segera melakukan pertemuan luar biasa di Brussels, Belgia pekan depan. Presiden AS Joe Biden akan datang langsung dalam agenda itu guna membahas Rusia dan Ukraina. (**)
